An educator and coach with more than two decades of experience in teaching, athletics, and school administration, Dr. Brian Lumar studied communication at Loyola University in New Orleans, where he was a member of the basketball team and became the school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Dr. Brian Lumar's early involvement in academics and athletics provided the foundation for his later work in the classroom and leadership roles.
Dr. Lumar taught literature, speech, and English while serving as head basketball coach at Hahnville High School. He later moved into administrative positions with Saint Charles Parish Public Schools, first as assistant principal and then as principal. In these roles, he managed academic programs, discipline, and athletics, as well as initiatives focused on student achievement. His doctoral research at Southeastern University examined school leadership practices and approaches to equity.
Dr. Lumar currently serves as director/supervisor at A1 Absolute Best Care, where he is responsible for writing all educational plans, the supervision of direct service workers, personal care assistants, and administrative staff. Dr. Lumar works closely with Case Management Agencies providing services to consumers. Dr. Lumar assists with Staff Training and conduct regular site visits to consumers’ homes. He works closely with families and/or consumers and assist in obtaining needed services. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he has volunteered with organizations such as Special Olympics, United Way, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His career combines teaching, coaching, and administrative experience with ongoing involvement in community programs.
